The MSc in Environmental Modelling and Data Analysis will provide you with the skills to go on to a career in this exciting area. You will learn how models of environmental processes are developed and applied across a range of areas including climate change, flooding, biogeochemistry and glaciers.

This BA (Honours) in Social Sciences (Geography) is one of several specialist routes available in our BA (Honours) Social Sciences (R23) degree. Half of your studies will be in interdisciplinary social science and sociology, giving you a firm grounding in the knowledge and ideas that are central to the social sciences. For the other half, you’ll learn how key geographical concepts can be applied to some of the most pressing challenges of the twenty-first century, including globalisation, development, climate change, migration and urbanisation.

Geography is a discipline that integrates the environmental and social sciences. Geography studies location, places, regions, human-environment interactions, and movement. Its tools include cartography and geographic information systems (GIS). On the job, Geography graduates address social, physical, and environmental problems from the global to the local scale.

The Geography program is one of two programs housed in the Department of Earth Science and Geography. Geography studies the spatial distribution of features across Earth’s landscape, such as the location of landforms, water bodies, and the organization of climate zones. It also considers the human landscape including how populations are distributed, why they migrate, and the ways they alter natural and urban environments. As a tool to advance these spatial analyses, the Geography program teaches the use of both traditional and computer-based geotechnical skills (geotechniques) such as cartography, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS).

The program in BSc in Geography provides a general bachelor level education in geography. It includes introductory modules to Nature and social sciences, to Geology and to Geography. The core of the program is based on the fundamental issues of including topics in Physical, Human and Regional geography.

Geography BSc trains geographers who have advanced theoretical and applied geographic knowledge; they are able to analyze the spatial and temporal correlations of the natural, socio-economic and urban environment, to synthesize results, and to gain knowledge in their academic field independently.

Our Master's Programme in Geography is based on high-quality research groups operating in some of the major fields of geography. It is divided into three study tracks: 1) physical geography, 2) human geography, and 3) geoinformatics.

The master's degree in Geography and Territorial Sciences trains professionals capable of integrating cultural, socio-economic, technical and planning knowledge for spatial and environmental analysis, organisation and management. The purpose of the Ph.D. in Geography is to provide qualifying students with an in-depth understanding and integrated knowledge of advanced applicable theory in the field of geography.

Physical Geography is the study of the natural environment that promotes the understanding of the interactions between social, earth and physical science.
