Offering students a compelling array of perspectives to investigate and assess the ever-shifting worlds of contemporary art, design, and new media art. OCAD University’s MA in Contemporary Art, Design and New Media Art Histories are unique in Canada in its focus on contemporary art, design and media production and theory. In this interdisciplinary program, you’ll engage with contemporary issues and works, while drawing on theoretical frameworks, historical contexts, and creative precedents that have shaped today’s visual and critical landscape. Program facilities are located in the heart of Toronto’s arts and culture district, in close proximity to the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Design Exchange, the Textile Museum of Canada, the Gardiner Museum, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.

SCAD sequential art students master the art of visual storytelling, creating compelling narratives for comics, graphic novels, video games, films, and more. Recognized as "the Harvard of comics" by Philadelphia Weekly and a top recruiting ground for Marvel Comics, SCAD offers the world’s first undergraduate and graduate degrees in sequential art. Students explore diverse styles and genres, combining traditional techniques with cutting-edge digital tools to bring their stories to life.

The Art and Visual Culture MA is part of the Cultural and Literary Studies Suite, a cluster of four MAs that bring together academics, curators and practitioners who share a commitment to investigating modern and contemporary culture from aesthetic, critical, literary, and experiential perspectives. You'll share classes with students from the Cultural and Critical Studies MA, the English Literature: Modern and Contemporary Fictions MA, and the Museum, Galleries and Contemporary Culture MA, joining a fruitful and intellectually-rigorous environment designed to facilitate the sprouting of interdisciplinary thinking. As part of our Suite, you may also choose an option module from the other three MA programmes (what is referred to as an ‘elective’ module), a fantastic opportunity to explore a facet of culture outside of your chosen MA programme. The Art and Visual Culture MA is an interdisciplinary, visual theory-based course established around the belief that visual literacy and the impact of visual forms of thinking and working play significant roles in our society. In the course, we interrogate visual perception and representation in high and popular culture, explore how these produce meanings, and how such meanings shape societies and individuals.

This BA (Honours) in Arts and Humanities (Art History) degree gives you the freedom to combine the study of different subject areas in the arts and humanities. You'll develop a specialism in art history, exploring art and visual culture across different periods and places. You can combine this with a second specialism or choose to develop broader interests in classical studies, creative writing, English language, English literature, history, modern languages, music, philosophy, and religious studies.

The history of art studies the origin of art from the first rock paintings to the experimental art of today. Skyline College's Art Program ensures a strong foundation in the visual arts. Enrolling in studio courses provides opportunities to explore the diversity of methods and materials to make art. Drawing, painting, photography, digital arts and other 2-d arts, 3-d media like sculpture and ceramics, studies in film and video, are all available to the student

The Art History MA degree is designed to give students an advanced understanding of western art history. The program offers specializations in ancient art, medieval art, renaissance art, baroque art, 18th and 19th-century art, and pre-war modern art. The art historical curriculum is paired with six credits of fine art studio classes, which allow our students to become familiar with traditional methods of fine art production including painting, printmaking, and sculpture. This marriage of art history and fine art studies offers a perspective through which art and its historical trajectory can be uniquely evaluated and appreciated. Students will complete their degree by writing an M.A. thesis, with the support and advisement of an Art History faculty member. The thesis will be written in the student's chosen area of art historical specialization demonstrating independent scholarly research and highlighting their joint understanding of art and its creative process.

Liberal Studies (LBS) is an interdisciplinary undergraduate major for students who intend to become elementary and special education teachers or to pursue related graduate work. Courses leading to the B.A. in Liberal Studies focus on the subject areas taught in elementary schools as well as professional preparation and early fieldwork. LBS is a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) approved Elementary Subject Matter Preparation Program (ESM). LBS also offers two Integrated Teacher Education Programs (ITEP) in which students earn a B.A. and a credential for teaching elementary school (multiple subjects) or special education (education specialist mild/moderate).

The Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in Cultural Heritage: History, Art and Territory provides training in researching, managing and promoting cultural and natural heritage. This master’s degree will equip you with expertise in analysing, managing, and promoting cultural and natural heritage from a multidisciplinary perspective.

The Studio Art Option offers students experience in a broad range of art disciplines, with emphasis on understanding fundamentals of art, developing their skills and appreciating the purposes and concepts of art.

This degree is aimed at holders of pre-EHEA undergraduate degrees in Art History or related fields who want to gain a deeper understanding of the research mechanisms needed to prepare a doctoral thesis or to apply their knowledge to art distribution and the art market.

From anatomy studies for precise character modeling, to intricate textures, environments and integration with game engines, the programme develops your skills using industry standard technologies and production methods to create 3D Art for games.
