The Doctor of Renewable Energy program helps students develop practical skills and knowledge required to critically evaluate alternative energy sources, and provide applied solutions to the energy demand. The major is decidedly interdisciplinary in nature, focusing on the underlying natural processes relating to renewable energy and employing the scientific method.

Energy is essential for the organization of society, for transportation, to maintain the proper temperature in our homes in winter and summer, and for the operation of industry, farms and offices. In spite of everything, many energy resources are finite and, at higher levels, energy consumption is, in general, a source of pollution.

The MSc Energy Business & Climate Strategy (MEBCS) program at GEM addresses the pressing issues of sustainable development, energy, and the natural environment, preparing students to drive transition in the energy system, from the supply side to the demand side and its governance.

The purpose of the Ph.D. in Energy Studies is to provide qualifying students with an in-depth understanding and integrated knowledge of advanced applicable theory in the field of energy studies.

The primary purpose of the MPhil in Energy Studies minor-dissertation with coursework is to provide students with specialized advanced education and training while meeting the requirements of a specific research component so that students can master the required experimental and technological skills and necessary fieldwork competencies such as innovation, decision-making, strategic thinking, and organizational skills. A minor dissertation with coursework MPhil in Energy Studies consists of a minimum of 120 credits of research at level 8 in the form of a research project, written up as a minor dissertation.

The Energy Engineering major educates experts to ensure that economically produced energy is reliably and affordably available. Focus areas in these studies include internal combustion engines and related energy production, exhaust gas purification technologies, as well as renewable fuels and energy sources.

The primary purpose of the BSc Honours qualification is to consolidate and deepen the students’ knowledge and expertise in Energy Studies and to develop research capacity in its methodology and techniques of it. BSc Honours is essentially a coursework degree of which at least 25% (30) of the credits are devoted to a research project and reporting under supervision.

The Master’s Degree program in Energy Engineering provides solid skills necessary to operate with management and R&D functions in the sustainable production, distribution, and use of energy in its various forms (mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical). Energy engineers will be able to interact with environmental, economic, and regulatory aspects. The programme also prepares professionals in the field of renewable sources and major energy conversions, with in-depth studies on combined plants, cogeneration and nuclear (fusion and fission) plants, energy in buildings, heating and cooling systems. The Programme has received the EUR-ACE accreditation (European Network for the Accreditation of Engineering Education ) that provides a set of standards to identify high-quality Engineering degree programmes in Europe and abroad.

As a student of the Master’s Programme in Transdisciplinary Studies of Climate, Environment, and Energy (TRACEE) you are empowered to become a change-maker. Our hands-on programme equips you with the tools to understand the complex problems of climate, energy, and environmental systems. By following TRACEE, you will enhance your skills to create innovative solutions from the perspectives of natural science, social science and humanities, through what we call a transdisciplinary approach.

Power engineering forms a part of almost all human activities. The objective of the "Energy Processes" postgraduate study program is to train students in creative research work in the field of power engineering. The graduates obtain the “PhD” title, the highest possible academic degree. The studies are conducted in the form of day or combined studies.

After the first cycle of studies (license), the master's degree in “Energy efficiency of technical building installations”, EEITB adds to the skills of engineers, in-depth knowledge in the main areas of research developed in our Faculty: building energy, comfort in indoor environments, the behavior of technical building systems (ventilation, heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical installations, lighting, sanitary installations, automatic management, acoustics, air pollution and filtration systems, renewable energy sources).
