Geography BSc trains geographers who have advanced theoretical and applied geographic knowledge; they are able to analyze the spatial and temporal correlations of the natural, socio-economic and urban environment, to synthesize results, and to gain knowledge in their academic field independently.

The program in BSc in Geography provides a general bachelor level education in geography. It includes introductory modules to Nature and social sciences, to Geology and to Geography. The core of the program is based on the fundamental issues of including topics in Physical, Human and Regional geography.

Our Geographer MSc, training covers both areas and provides specialized knowledge to help you learn as thoroughly as possible about the complex relationship of human society and the environment. The Institute of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Eszterházy Károly Catholic University in Eger provides you with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills.

During this 4-semester MSc in Geography, our students will focus on GIS methods and remote sensing tools applied in surface geomorphology both in a classroom environment and in the field. They will have the opportunity to join in and participate in research and scientific projects run by IGES. The Institute has research collaborations with global companies like ESA and SARMap, and international relations with research groups from Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Slovenia, China, and the US. These projects may provide internships for our students to experience the international atmosphere and scientific skills and knowledge.

In everyday life, we all use geoinformation systems in an unnoticed and self-evident way. Geoinformatics is essentially dealing with the management and processing of spatial data, but also includes map visualization, primary and secondary data collection procedures, and geographic analysis.

The most up-to-date software and hardware for spatial data collection, analysis, and visualization including both the statistical and cartography aspects. How to exploit the benefits of renewable energy (solar, geothermic and wind); knowledge of measuring devices, energy calculation methods. Processes of the landscapes; environmental evaluation techniques; nature protection and policy; environmental quality assurance/control.
