Masters in Human Movement Sciences: Sport, Exercise and Health (RM)

This Research Master’s is a multidisciplinary program covers the whole spectrum of human movement sciences, from molecular biology to cognitive neuroscience and human motor behavior. Admitting a maximum of thirty students per year, the program guarantees plenty of scope for in-depth discussions and personal attention.

The highly qualified researchers and lecturers and excellent lab facilities provide a stimulating setting that will prepare you for a career in top-level scientific research in sport, healthcare or more fundamental aspects of human movement.

Structure of the Health RM Program

You can only take this two-year Research Master’s program on a full-time basis. The first year is dedicated to preparing you for scientific research, providing a thorough background in sport, rehabilitation and regenerative medicine, alongside training in state-of-the-art research methods and advanced statistics.

You can customize your own profile, with a focus on sport, health, fundamental aspects of human movement or research methods. Since extensive experience in high-quality research is indispensable for a scientific career, the entire second year is reserved for your research internship.

VU aims to produce first-class projects that result in scientific publications and we will help you find a project that suits your interests, either at our department or with another leading institute in the Netherlands or abroad. Successful completion of the program results in an internationally recognized Master of Science degree (MSc).

Admission requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in relevant field from an accredited research university including at least three full years of academic study amounting a minimum of 180 ECTS or equivalent.
  • Motivation, background and personality (motivation letter, CV and personal reference)
  • Proof of sufficient proficiency in English.
