In this specialization, students choose courses from ancient to postmodern literature and from traditional to avant-garde readings.

The public community colleges and the four-year colleges and universities of the State of Washington have an established Direct Transfer Agreement. That agreement allows students who hold the Associate of Arts (DTA) degree to transfer at least 90 quarter credits (60-semester credits) to four-year institutions for the purpose of satisfying most or all of the general education requirements of the receiving institution.

Students pursuing an Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree with less than 12 completed college-level hours will be required to take and complete EDUC 1300, a first-year general elective course that will contribute to student success by addressing factors that impact learning in college, including research and theory in learning; strategies to monitor, regulate and control cognition, motivation, and behavior; and the ability to think ethically and critically.

The Liberal Arts: Arts and Humanities Associate in Arts degree program is designed for students who wish for a broad knowledge of liberal arts and sciences with an area of emphasis in Arts and Humanities. This program is an ideal choice for students planning on transferring to the California State University or the University of California as the student can satisfy their general education requirements, plus focus on transferable course work that relates to majors at CSU or UC.

The Associate of Arts (DTA) degree is directly transferable to most Washington baccalaureate institutions (four-year colleges and universities). It is a general transfer degree appropriate for a wide variety of major areas of study. Students who transfer will be granted junior standing upon transfer.
