The Interior Design Department offers courses for individuals interested in preparing for careers in interior design. Included in the program are a transfer program, an AS degree, and three Certificates of Achievement: the Interior Design Certificate, the Kitchen and Bath Certificate, and the Home Staging Certificate.

The ESTR (Education and Skills Training) program offers four certificates for students who have experienced barriers to employment to prepare them for entry level positions within the workforce. Each nine-month certificate runs from September through May and is divided between classroom work and hands on experiential learning.

San Jose City College offers two certificates and an Associate in Science (A.S.) in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technology. This program is designed to develop the appreciation, knowledge, and skills essential for employment in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. Instruction includes both theory and practical work with refrigeration and air conditioning machinery, electrical equipment, and related mathematics. A grade of "C" or better is required in each course in the major and approved major electives for each certificate and degree.

The Higher Certificates (HC) courses at AFDA are 1-year NQF level 5 programs designed to lay a foundation of basic skills and learning to enter the creative economy at an assistant level, as well as enable further access to degree level education for the first year in the BA or BCom degrees at AFDA. The Higher Certificate in Film, Television and Entertainment Production focuses on basic technical and/or production skills important for the running of a film or television set.

The degree programs require a total of 60 units; of which, 24 units are selected from General Education areas and the remaining 36 units are selected from a business major concentration. Several levels of certificates are available in each of the three areas of concentration. The certificate programs can be completed without the requirements of General Education. A C grade or better is required in all degree and certificate major and major elective courses.

Students planning to transfer should follow the Associate in Arts. The Judicial Administration option expands the existing Administration of Justice program focus beyond primarily law enforcement to include judicial branch careers. The program offers students educational opportunities which prepare them for entry into judicial branch careers. Additionally, the curriculum addresses the educational and professional development needs of the existing judicial branch workforce and prepares students for advancement in their careers working in the courts. The program goals address the increasing need for well-prepared applicants for court positions at all levels from entry to managerial.

San Jose City College offers an Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) degree and various certificates in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Graduates of the Associate in Science degree qualify through academic preparation and field experience for work in child centers, pre-schools, day care facilities, infant and toddler centers and other programs serving young children. They are able to use instructional techniques, which promote intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and creative growth in children. After completing the Associate in Science degree, students will be eligible for the Teacher Level of the State of California Childrens Center Permit, and qualify for employment as teachers in government and privately funded early care and education programs. Students planning to transfer to a 4-year university should follow the AS-T degree. A grade of "C" or better is required in all ECE major, certificate and major elective courses..

The issuing of replacement certificates originally issued by the National Maritime Training Centre, is by request in writing - please give your name, date of birth, and details of the certificate to be replaced, the reason for the replacement (ie lost, stolen, damaged etc) and the address to which the replacement is to be sent.
