In the M.A. in Israel Studies program, you’ll examine the historical processes that led to the creation of today’s Israeli society, the complicated relationships between the various groups that live side by side within the boundaries of the State of Israel, and the ways in which Israel copes with these challenges domestically and abroad. This prestigious program is offered by Hebrew University’s Rothberg International School (RIS) in conjunction with the Department of Political Science and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

The M.A. in Israel Studies Program integrates historical and contemporary perspectives and focuses on the emergence of Zionist ideology and the global Jewish people, the pre-state communities under Ottoman and British rule, and the State of Israel.

This online MA program – led by Prof. Jonathan Fox, one of the world’s foremost experts in the field – provides a unique platform for understanding the role of religion in contemporary politics. We explore the potential of religions to unite and divide societies, to exacerbate conflict, or provide frameworks for peace. Whether you are planning a career in academia, policy research, diplomacy, conflict resolution, or the clergy, or whether you simply have a passion to understand the social forces that shape our world, this program is for you. This two-year, online MA program will provide you with a deep academic grounding in religious and Middle Eastern politics as well as in general political science. The program is taught entirely in English by leading experts. There are approximately six hours of online teaching each week, and the program is open to students anywhere in the world. We consider both religious politics and Middle Eastern politics important topics of study within political science. This program uniquely combines these topics, which include a broad survey of Middle Eastern politics as well as religious politics both in the Middle East and outside of the Middle East. At the same time, we provide courses that cover basic political science theory and methodology. Thus, while this course of study has a unique focus, it will also provide a broad foundation in the general discipline of political science. Graduates of the Agroecology and Plant Health teaching program acquire the knowledge required for dealing with agricultural and environmental issues using a multi-disciplinary approach based on ecological principles. Both research and teaching center on studying the interactions between the biotic and abiotic factors in agricultural systems, and on environmental aspects of modern agriculture.

The master's program is intended for students with a bachelor's degree in biology and life sciences, students with a DVM degree, or students in the combined DVM/M.Sc program at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine. The program aims to expand and deepen the knowledge and understanding students attained in their undergraduate studies, and to allow them to take their first steps as researchers.

The Environmental Economics and Management master's program focuses on economic issues in the areas of environmental and natural resources, marketing, and finance. These include public economics and government intervention to control environmental effects; planning of efficient extraction and use of natural resources; allocation of water and land resources; regulation of agricultural product marketing in local and export markets; industrial organization; economics of the family; mechanism design; game theory; political economy, and more. Students participate in research as part of their master's thesis.

The teaching program provides students with opportunities to study and research various environmental topics, with an emphasis on pollution treatment, overexploitation of natural resources, and the influence of agriculture on these issues. The program encompasses chemical, physical, ecological, economical, and ethical aspects.

The program objectives are to train students to become researchers in the field of genetics and breeding and eventually become independent plants and animal breeders, based on their in-depth genetic understanding.
