As an International Centre of Excellence, the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics carries out pioneering research in Biomedicine and therefore provides MSc students with the knowledge and tools to complete a competitive Research Project. Biotechnology is undoubtedly important for its implications in various sectors of everyday life, utilizing cellular and bio-molecular processes that pave the way for the generation of cutting-edge new technologies and products that help improve life and nature in general. In particular, Biotechnology is the technology that uses living microorganisms to develop or create different products. Examples include the use of yeast in cheese and bread making, and the use of viral vectors for the creation of human vaccines (ie SARS-CoV-2 vaccine). Overall, recent advances in Biotechnology had a positive impact on the production of healthy food, improvement of the medical sector, reducing the world’s environmental footprint, and reducing the rate of infectious diseases. As a result, Biotechnology is widely considered to be the engine of the global economy in the 21st century.

The M.Sc. in Biodiversity Conservation program has a duration of 3 academic semesters (and up to 8 semesters for part-time study) and requires the completion of 90 ECTS. It combines a course component of 60 ECTS in total for which each student can choose from a list of Restricted Elective Courses (see Postgraduate Prospectus) as the series of compulsory departmental postgraduate seminars.

The master’s program in Teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) is both research-based and profession-oriented. The training offered provides students with essential tools for the analysis of teaching situations as well as practical tools that enable intervention in professional sectors related to the teaching process.

The MSc/MPhil in Environmental and Energy Sciences promotes research excellence and educates students on the scientific frontiers and advanced methodologies at the vanguard of interconnected issues related to Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences, Water Sciences, Energy and Sustainability.

Τhe Postgraduate Programme in “Educational Leadership and Policy” aims a) to create the foundations for more effective organization and administration of schools and other educational organizations, and b) to provide students with a theoretical as well as applied understanding of the relationship between context variables of the educational system and their relationships with the roles, responsibilities and actions of educational leaders. It is deeply anchored in theory and research on educational leadership, management, administration and policy issues, as well as on contextual factors (e.g. culture, social structures, economic conditions, etc.) that influence educational institutions and leadership, teaching and learning principles.
