About this program

Bachelors in Geodesy, Cartography and Geoinformatics

The study program is designed primarily for students who are interested in geography and information technology. Students will learn in detail how to acquire so-called spatial (geographic) data (using global navigation satellite systems, satellites or drones), store (using database systems), process and analyze and last but not least visualize and publish, whether in the form of standard maps or Internet services. Students acquire comprehensive knowledge of geographic information systems and geoinformation technologies and knowledge needed to develop their own applications. The program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to continue their studies in follow-up studies or find employment in a number of public institutions and private companies using spatial data.

The aim of the program is to prepare both graduates who can master the technical themes at the application level and with sufficient theoretical basis for further study. They will be able both to actively work with existing applications of relevant technologies. They will be exercisable in both the state and local governments as well as in the private sector and further develop his / her theoretical knowledge through further studies

Criteria for Admission

  • Secondary school-leaving certificate
  • English-language ability – students, who are not native speakers may be asked to demonstrate their ability to study in English, e.g. by presenting the results of any language tests they have taken. English language ability document - minimum requirements: IELTS score 5,0; TOEFL internet-based score 62 (possibly other certificates at the same level).
  • Entrance examination (according to the Faculty Admission Procedure Rules and Conditions for Admission)

Tuition fee: 50 000 CZK per semester, approx. 4000 EUR per academic year


Graduates of this degree program will have:

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the subject and scope of the field of study
  • Broad knowledge of theories, concepts and methods of the field of study
  • Understanding of the possibilities, conditions and constrains on the use of the theories, concepts and methods of the field of study in practice

Graduates of this degree program will be able to:

  • Using the expertise and based on generally defined task to solve practical problems in the field of study
  • Search, organize and interpret information relevant to solving practical problems defined
  • Use some basic procedures of the field to the extent necessary for solving practical problems in a field of study

Graduates of this degree program will be able to:

  • Take independent and responsible decisions in a partially known context under the framework assignment
  • Based on the general assignment and allocation of resources to coordinate the activities of the team and be accountable for its results
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively both professionals and laymen about the nature of professional issues and their own views on their solution
  • Clearly summarize the views of other team members
  • By self-training or follow-up study to acquire additional knowledge, skills and competence based on practical experience and in particular its assessment, but also by independent studies of the theoretical field of knowledge

Continuing studies

The degree program is designed to provide graduates with the opportunity to continue their studies in a follow-up study program or to provide the graduates with the possibility of taking courses in business and public institutions using to support their work activities appropriate procedures and technologies.
