Program description

Explore all forms of ocean life, discover the marine environment in Bermuda or the Galapagos, and gain the right skills to work around the globe, with Southampton’s multidisciplinary MSci Marine Biology.

Based at the world-leading National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS), you will develop a full understanding of global marine sciences with marine biology, covering a broad variety of topics from hydrothermal vents to coastal lagoons.

Our four-year integrated masters will expand your study skills with an optional field course at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences or the Charles Darwin Research Station, Galapagos to broaden your field research beyond the environments found around the UK.

In your final-year you will complete an extensive research project (50% of your final year) in a specialised area of marine biology alongside one of our cutting edge research groups.

Our Marine Biology degree is accredited by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
