Romance Philology and Cultures BA (Specialization in Italian Studies)

At the University of Pécs, Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, you can study Italian Language and Literature as an independent course of study. Those who graduate will develop specific knowledge and skills through theory and practice to start a fruitful working application in the field of Italian culture and language with the development of different basic skills, didactic research, international development and special educational needs. In addition to the in-depth study of the aforementioned fields, particular attention should also be paid to interdisciplinarity. In addition, the course gives candidates the opportunity to access fields of study and work ranging from tourism to the various levels and modalities of mass media, information and communication, as well as moving with competence in the field of cultural heritage and the vast universe of Italian culture spread throughout the world. Students will experiment with different methods of education, learning and assessment including in them courses, seminars, mentoring, group activities or cooperation, as well as projects developed in small groups or individually. The pedagogical methods are centered on the student's skills and promote correct, attentive and practical communication, such as to improve both reasoning and collaboration skills and adaptability. Taking into account that the University of Pécs has excellent relationships with the best universities throughout Europe, to undertake research activities, to develop and innovate systems in the field of Italian language and literature.

Admission requirements

The following B2 level language exams will be accepted:

  • Official photocopy of one of the B2 level language exams
  • CILS (Certificate of Italian as a Foreign Language, Siena
  • CELI (Certificate of Italian Language, Perugia)
  • AIL (Italian Academy of Language, Florence)
  • PLIDA (Dante Alighieri Italian Language Project, with the La Sapienza University of Rome):
  • ECL
  • TELC

The candidate is not obliged to present the language certificate if he meets one of the criteria listed below:

  • is Italian by mother tongue
  • has passed all BA courses in Italian
  • have passed a two-semester language course organized by the University of Pécs or another Hungarian university (for verification you must present the certificate of the cosro)

The candidate must submit:

  • medical certificate
  • chest x-ray. Please submit the medical reading, report, of the chest X-ray (not the film) in Italian. Documents can be dated no later than 3 months prior to the date of submission of the application
  • vaccination certificate verifying that the candiadate is immunized against HEP B
  • HEP A / B / C test
