The Masters of Science in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands aims for a leading position in education and research by offering top education programmes linked to top research groups in the faculty.

Groningen's 2-year Masters in Biomolecular Sciences provides students with top-quality research competences, making them highly attractive for research positions within Biomolecular Sciences. The first year of this Biomolecular Sciences education programme consists of comprehensive courses with obligatory lectures, self study and exercises. This is required in order to receive the special annotation of the Top programme on the diploma supplement for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. The second year concentrates on thesis projects, research proposals and proposals for Ph.D. projects. The programme Biomolecular Sciences will educate students at an advanced level in order to acquire top quality research competences.

Upon completion of this Masters in Biomolecular Sciences, graduates often pursue PhD research in the field. Top stoduents receive offers for PhD positions during their biomolecular sciences research projects.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements for the Masters of Science in Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands are:

  • completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or Life Science & Technology including relevant specialisations
  • English proficiency, demonstrated by the following minimum test scores:
