Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) Level 3

Are you dreaming of a career working with young children? There is strong demand for caring, skilled individuals who can support children in a variety of settings, from playgroups to nurseries and schools. Our Childcare and Education college course will give you the essential training to help meet this demand.

Our Level 3 childcare diploma focuses on working with children from birth to the age of five years old, otherwise known as ‘early years’. Studying areas from childcare and education to safeguarding and development, 

A key part of the course is putting your training into practice, so you will spend two days per week on placement in a real work environment. By the time you finish your studies, you will be in a great position to enter the workforce or progress onto higher level qualifications.

Entry requirements

  • Ideally, you will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, which must include English language (or Functional Skills English Level 2) and ideally maths at grade 3 (or Functional Skills Level 1).
  • School applicants will be required to provide a good school report, which must include attendance.
  • You should be committed, enthusiastic and have a desire to succeed in the early years and care sector.

This course requires you to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. University College Birmingham will coordinate and fund the completion of the DBS check.
