Program description
Stage Combat
Combat and stage fighting is a necessity in today’s film, theatre and media industries. The public want to see action sequences while the performers need to remain safe. The course teaches effective illusions of violence, whether unarmed or with weapons. The curriculum varies slightly year-on-year, but in previous years the course has included: Personal combat, period European and Asian fighting styles, modern realistic fighting, fencing and slapstick. At the end of the course, you will have developed a paired and small group sequence using some of these principles of combat and stage fighting. If you pass the course you will be awarded the British Academy, or Dramatic Combat Foundation Level. Due to the nature of the course, in order to pass, you must have 100% attendance.
