Program description

Advanced Cyber Security: The Evolution of the Cyber Threat

This advanced and elite program is by one of Israel’s leading industry experts and will explore Cyber Security from the perspective of national and economic security, focusing on the complexity of policy making and strategy which surrounds Cyber Security and the relationship between Cyber Security and governance. This competitive program is open for application to students who are majoring or minoring in this (or a related) field and/or have a background in the policy, strategy and national security aspects of Cyber Security.

Students begin the program by actively participating in “Cyber Week”, an annual leading international conference in cybersecurity held at Tel Aviv University. Cyber Week takes place June 20-24, 2021 and is a required part of the program for students. Cyber Week offers a unique gathering of cybersecurity experts, bringing together industry leaders, startups, investors, academics, diplomats, and other government officials. Delivering a thought-provoking exchange of knowledge, methods, and ideas, the events of the conference will include roundtables, panels, workshops, forums, BSides, competitions, and more. In the past, Cyber Week has hosted over 5,000 attendees from more than 50 countries. The conference is hosted by the Blavatnik Interdisciplinary Cyber Research Center (ICRC), The Yuval Ne’eman Workshop for Science, Technology and Security, Tel Aviv University, the Israeli National Cyber Directorate under the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Following Cyber Week, students continue the program with an academic course taught by one of Israel’s leading industry experts. The course “Evolution of the Cyber Threat” considers how cyberspace has become a new domain of war. In a time when we – and our governments - conduct our business and relationships increasingly in a digital format, we are now more in need than ever in understanding how we build and operate cyber landscapes in the face of threat.
