International Teacher Education for Secondary Schools

Gain excellent job prospects in international education, with this four-year bachelor program. The practical way of learning and studying, offers you the opportunity to gain valuable experience right from the start. With this course, you will grow into a qualified and world-wise teacher, ready to work at various types of international schools.
Right now, there are three main subject fields to choose from: Mathematics, German, and Social Studies: History.
Mathematics teacher are much-needed at international schools. Their job is to teach the youth problem-solving skills. With the ongoing technological advancements, they help train the scientists and mathematicians of tomorrow.
This main subject is all about teaching students to be aware of history’s influence on the world around them. They will learn all about what drives societies, past and present. The link between social geography and other social studies is made, and the didactics of teaching history will be thoroughly covered.
Experts in the German language are needed by many international schools. Students who grow up in an international environment, draw great benefits from learning multiple languages. In addition to learning the language, students will also get to know German culture.

The International Teacher Education for Secondary Schools course prepares you for a career as a teacher at an international school. On completion of the course, students are awarded a Bachelor International Teacher Education for Secondary Schools.
In the first year, you will jump right into your main subject. You broaden and deepen your knowledge of the subject of your choice. You also discover all the different sides that are to the role of teacher in international education. You design your own educational activities and gain an advanced understanding of the English language.
The first semester of the second year is about preparing for nine weeks of Teaching Practice. You will teach your main subject at an international school abroad. A lot of attention is given to corporation with students from partner universities as well.
The third year offers another nine weeks of Teaching Practice. The focus will be different, however. You will spend more time on differentiation and pedagogics. Research also plays an important part and you further develop your own personal and professional views on teaching. You will get the chance to broaden your knowledge and skills at one of our partner universities.
In the fourth year, you will graduate by means of a final portfolio, and by demonstrating your didactic skills in a final paper.
