Aviation - Airplane Pilot B.S.

Southern Utah University’s Professional Pilot Program offers its students an incredible opportunity to prepare to compete for commercial pilot jobs with advanced fixed wing flight training.

The ultimate goal for our students is gainful employment flying for commercial aviation companies. SUU has designed the Professional Pilot Program with knowledge of the educational and flight training requirements demanded by prospective employers. Our students leave uniquely prepared to compete for the best commercial jobs in the aviation industry worldwide.

Scholarships & funding

The Rotor Aviation Scholarship is a $20,000 award used only for Commercial training (lab 2276).

  • Tuition Fee for SEL Private Pilot Certification 2nd Semester: $11,853
  • Tuition Fee for SEL Instrument 3rd Semester;$15,939
  • Tution Fee for SELCommercial Phase I 4th Semester:$19,365
  • Tution Fee for SEL Commercial Phase II 5th Semester:$16,360
  • Tution Fee for MEL Commercial Add-On 6th Semester:$16,875
  • Tution Fee for CFI 7th Semester: $9,425
  • Tution Fee for CFI 7th Semester:$4,708

Qualification

  • Students will demonstrate an increased recognition and respect for aviation safety between the time they join the program and the time they complete the program.
  • Students will be able to intelligibly and accurately discuss aviation industry particulars with industry participants, faculty and staff, and fellow students. They will also be able to inform other interested parties of aviation industry particulars which may not be common knowledge to individuals who are not directly involved in the aviation community.
  • At conclusion of the program graduating students will demonstrate pilot skills and knowledge deemed critical by industry. Students will possess desirable attributes of professional pilots.
  • Students will show evidence that they have acquired skills or knowledge directly related to piloting aircraft within the first year of participation in the program.
  • Students will satisfy the FAA knowledge and skill requirements for Commercial Pilot Certification, Certified Flight Instructor, Certified Flight Instructor Instrument, and various endorsements in aircraft type and operation.
