If you’re a foundation level educator, this programme is a great way to meet your professional development goals and get up to date with the latest industry standards, which includes the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) requirement to hold an adult literacy and numeracy qualification. You will build on your existing adult education knowledge and skills, be able to relate better to your students and learn strategies to help them learn.
This qualification will prepare you for a career as a vocational, workplace or specific content educator with the ability to embed literacy and numeracy into your programmes.

Embed literacy and numeracy teaching and learning in a vocational or workplace programme with consideration of New Zealand’s unique context
Use assessment and evaluation as tools to enhance student learning and own practice in embedded literacy and numeracy teaching.
When you achieve this qualification you may be interested in studying towards the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching or the Open Polytechnic Certificate in Designing and Facilitating e-learning. (Note that you can cross credit 20 credits of this qualification towards the New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching).
To gain entry into this programme you will need to be involved in training and have access to at least two adult learners, either in a workplace, community-based organisation or by distance learning. To confirm you meet the on-the-job requirements of the programme, you will be asked to provide details of your employment in adult education or workplace training as part of the enrolment process.
IELTS test – an Academic score of 5.5, with no band score lower than 5.
Cambridge English Qualifications - B2 First or B2 First for Schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skills.
