Courses

To complete the New Zealand Diploma in Business (Administration and Technology) (level 5) the following courses are available. There are four core courses that we recommend that you study first. These are: Understanding Change, Business Functions, Business Environments, and Organisations in a New Zealand Context. You can fit your study around your work, family and lifestyle – there is no need to be a full-time student while studying with TANZ eCampus. You can work and earn. All study is completely online – with supportive facilitators and advisors to help you along the way.

How long will it take?

This qualification is made up of eight courses. Each course is delivered over 9 weeks. NZQA guidelines suggest up to 150 hours of total study time for a 15 credit course. So to complete one of the courses successfully in the 9 weeks you must be prepared to devote approximately 16.5 hours per week to your study. Depending on your previous academic online experience and course level this may vary to a certain degree.

Career and study pathways

On completion of this course you could be ready to take on a variety of careers or a promotion within your existing workplace and you will have the skills and knowledge to be employed in a variety of business entities in roles like personal and executive assistant, customer service consultant or team leader in an office administration role.

Admission requirements

Applicants under 20 years old

Students are required to complete international qualifications equivalent to New Zealand NCEA Level 1 or 2 qualification. Entry requirements vary from country to country.

Applicants 20 years or over

For applicants 20 years or over, there are no minimum academic requirements. However, applicants will need to provide their curriculum vitae detailing any relevant work experience and academic achievements. The Head of Department Applied Business (or delegate) will use this information to assess whether the applicant is likely to successfully complete the NZ Diploma in Business Programme.

English Language Requirements

IELTS 5.5 Academic (no band score lower than 5.0), or equivalent

TOEFL Paper based test (pBT) - Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)

TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - Score of 46 (with a writing score of 20)

University of Cambridge English Examinations - FCE or FCE for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill

Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PToE (Academic) score of 42

City & Guilds IESOL - B2 Communicator with a score of 42
