London Metropolitan University
Program description
Jewellery and Accessories (Including Foundation Year) BA (Full-time)
Why study this course?
Our Jewellery and Accessories (including foundation year) BA (Hons) course is the perfect choice if you’d like to examine your aptitude and potential in different creative practices before specialising in the subsequent three years of your degree.
This course is also an alternative route into higher education – ideal if you can’t meet the necessary entry requirements for the three-year BA degree.
The foundation year (Year 0) on this jewellery and accessories course is designed to prepare you for study at undergraduate level and help you determine your interest in different creative practices within The Cass.
You’ll share the foundation year with other students enrolled on courses with a foundation year. The shared curriculum will develop your techniques in drawing, composition (2D and 3D), as well as studio and workshop skills. These creative practices will be taught in the context of historical, contemporary and cultural discourse, which will equip you to become an intellectual enquirer with a sense of professional responsibility. The Program will also encourage you to complete personal research and exploration to bring your individual interest and style to the creative practice you study.
In the subsequent years of your studies, your teaching will focus on jewellery and accessories design and you’ll be joined by students starting in Year 1 of the degree. To find out more about the BA part of your course please visit our Jewellery and Accessories BA (Hons) degree. You’ll also graduate with the same award and title as students on this degree.
If, at the end of your foundation year, you find another discipline in The Cass fits your interests and abilities more, there will be flexibility to allow you to change your specialism.
