Program description

The Department for Humanities, Arts and Languages has over 100 academics in staff and a quality of teaching assessed by the QAA to be excellent in English, Film studies and Performing Arts. The students benefit from a language center with good resources and language laboratories and facilities for creative arts. In addition there are specialist collections such as The Women's Library and the unique archive dealing with the Irish in Britain. The department is also responsible for the Open Language Programme, an innovation, which lets all students at the institution study one of eight languages. Popular careers have included management, media, public relations, teaching and continued education. The department hosts lectures and seminars and holds the annual Creative Writing competition. The Department for Humanities, Arts and Languages has strong contacts with society and other university organizations. They also have an ever growing number of international exchange students.

Admission requirements

  • A senior high school diploma with a good average grade
  • Language requirements are as follows.
    • IELTS: 5.5. With all parts 5.0 or higher
    • TOEFL: 550 or 213 I the computer based test with a 4 in TWE (Test of Written English)
    • Cambridge First Certificate (FCE): with a Grade B
    • Cambridge Advanced (CAE): with Grade C

If you apply for full time study, HND or an undergraudate degree, which start in September 2009, apply through UCAS. If you apply for studies that start in February or for part time courses you should apply directly to London Metropolitan University.
