Master of Bioethics (MBE)
From the ethics of food production to stem cell research to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics is guiding the conversation about some of the most complex moral and policy issues affecting the health and well-being of people worldwide.
Offered in collaboration with the School of Public Health, the Master of Bioethics (MBE) is an innovative, interdisciplinary and cross-divisional graduate program combining approaches from science and technology, the humanities and arts, and public health and medicine to prepare students from diverse backgrounds to investigate and address the bioethics challenges of professional and civic life. Admission requirements
Standardized Test Scores
Standardized test scores (GRE, MCAT, or LSAT) are optional for this program. The admissions committee will make no assumptions if a standardized test score is omitted from an application, but will require evidence of quantitative/analytical ability through other application components such as academic transcripts and/or supplemental questions. Applications will be reviewed holistically based on all application components.
English Language Proficiency Test
Most international applicants must submit scores of an English language proficiency test. Unless an applicant meets one of the exemption criteria listed below, official English language proficiency test scores less than 2 years old will be required as part of the application. To fulfill this requirement, the Bloomberg School will accept scores from the following tests. Please contact Admissions Services if you have questions about acceptable test scores. We do not accept the TOEFL Essentials or TOEFL IPT.
