Program description

Online Spring School

No need to travel to live an immersive international experience. INSA Lyon has launched its1st Online Spring School, a perfectly balanced program of online courses, fun activities and break times.

Participants are invited to choose between2 courses that tackle tomorrow's challenges with hands-on innovative and interactive learning. Throughout the program, they will also be involved in online cultural activities with INSA students and teachers.

We are proud to offer our partner universities and their students this brand new pedagogical content, which is as qualitative as our usual short programmes and totally adapted to the current context in order to preserve everyone's safety.

Program content

Choose between 2 courses

Course 1 - Connected devices and smart devices (20 hrs)

While connected devices are all around us and lead the way towards smarter cities, students will find out how they work and what is at stake, through practical exercises.

Introduction to the Internet of Things and how it relates to smart cities

  • Introduction to IoT Concepts
  • Data collection and processing
  • Geographical data storage and processing
  • Technical introduction to programming

Geographical Data Manipulation Lab

  • Modelizing an intelligent building
  • Processing of geographical data

(Prerequisites: basic knowledge and practical experience of computer programming, language and algorithms)

Course 2 - Short circular design sprint (20hrs)

A multicultural cooperation to answer a sustainable challenge.

This course calls for creativity and a problem-solving approach. Through Design Thinking Methods, students will work in teams and reconsider a more sustainable future based on a circular economy. 

Design Thinking Approach

  • Problem-solving methods based on a customer-centric vision.

Circular Design tools and exercise

  • Global team challenge to rethink everyday products, services and systems for a circular economy.
