The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme is directed towards MBA graduates who want to further deepen their knowledge within the field of business administration. Consisting of two main parts, the Doctor of Business Administration programme provides participants with interactive learning challenges.
The first part of the Doctor of Business Administration programme is “Directed Learning” and consists of seminars, prescribed readings and written assignments. Aiming to give students the knowledge base required in order to pursue doctoral research it is divided into two main components:
- The Nature of Scientific Research
- Design and Methods for Quantitative Research
- Design and Methods for Qualitative Research
- Trans disciplinary Applied Business Research
- Macro environment of Business
- Strategic Management
- Organisation Behaviour and Transformation
- Strategic Marketing
- Governance, Risk and Performance
The second part of the Doctor of Business Administration programme is “Research” and is spent on independent research. Once the research is completed it is mandatory to present it as a doctoral thesis. During the research process, Doctor of Business Administration students are guided by a supervisor.
The admission requirements for the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme are:
- An MBA degree
- At least two years of post-MBA work experience and must have at least three years management experience at senior level.
Tuition & fees
The tuition fee for the Doctor of Business Administration programme is R104 800 and this covers all tuition, materials, catering and use of facilities at GIBS over the duration of the programme.
