SUMA Master's in Sustainable Materials

Welcome to the Master Program on Sustainable Materials, an EIT-labelled quality course that aims to train students to become the entrepreneurs of the circular economy of tomorrow.

Become part of our vibrant community and stay up to date on the most recent developments in sustainable materials, recycling and the circular economy movement.

Programme Structure

You will be able to choose one SUMA partner university for year one, and a second partner university in a different country for year two, depending on your specialisation. SUMA partner universities are KU Leuven in Belgium, the University of Trento or the University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy, Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria, and Grenoble INP in France.

Admission requirements

All students should have:

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent. Candidates must have obtained* a BSc diploma (or equivalent) of substantial quality and at a level corresponding to at least three years’ study at a university, equivalent to 180 ECTS.

English proficiency: the minimum for the SUMA Master’s is a TOEFL score of 86, with a minimum of 20 on both speaking and writing, or an IELTS score of 6.5, and a minimum of 6 on speaking and writing for non-EEA students who are not native speakers.

Year 1

Tuition fees

  • Total fees for EEA students range from €77 to €5,500.
  • Total fees for non-EEA students range from €600 to €12,000

Scholarships & funding

For students beginning in September 2020, EIT Label scholarships from EIT RawMaterials of €13,500 per eligible student are available.

The Sustainable Materials (SUMA) master programmes are two year master programmes embedded in the engineering programmes of the participating universities (120 ECTS).
