Psychology with Criminology BSc (Hons)
A well-respected and widely sought-after degree, studying Psychology equips you with skills in critical thinking and communication as well as scientific research methods, data analysis and data presentation skills. This broad range of transferable skills makes Psychology graduates an attractive prospect for graduate employers. A psychology degree can open up diverse career options in areas such as research, healthcare, social work, marketing, the police services, teaching and human resources. On completion of the course you will also be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS); your first step to becoming a chartered psychologist. With this course you can combine the study of psychology and human behavior with a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system.
Our psychology degree gives you an understanding of theories and research regarding the scientific study of mind and behavior. You will also receive research methods training and be supported to undertake your own original Psychology research project in the final year of your studies.
Admission requirements
GCSEs
- Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths
Plus one of the following:
A levels
- A minimum of 120 points from at least two A levels
BTEC
- BTEC National Diploma - Distinction/Distinction/Merit
- BTEC Extended Diploma - Distinction/Distinction/Merit
International Baccalaureate
- 30+ points
Access course
Pass in the QAA accredited Access to HE overall 120 UCAS tariff with at least 30 L3 credits at Merit. English GCSE required as separate qualification. Equivalency not accepted within the Access qualification. We will normally require students to have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course.
English language
If English is not your first language then an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each component (or equivalent) is essential.
English Language tuition, delivered by our British Council accredited Centre for English Language Learning, is available both before and throughout the course if you need it.
