London International Programmes in Prague
The LLB, a professional qualifying laws degree awarded by the University of London, is appropriate for students looking for a challenging education in the laws of England and Wales.
The University of London’s LLB has long been regarded as the international gold standard for legal education and for over 150 years has provided the first step on a career route for many thousands of practicing lawyers within the Commonwealth and around the world.
Lecturers at AAU follow the course content set out by the University of London and teach to ensure that students have the knowledge expected of them. The University of London writes and grades examinations to the internal standards of the University of London Law Consortium institutions: the London School of Economics (LSE), Kings College, Queen Mary, Birkbeck, SOAS, and UCL. These institutions, according to The Guardian’s 2015 University Guide, take five of the top ten spots, and three of the top five, for law studies in the UK.
While coursework at AAU is not formally graded it is used to assist students in developing their writing skills and reinforcing their knowledge of the subject matter. Further assistance and support come from the University of London’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which grants access to cases, articles, journals, audio lectures and more.
The LLB program prepares our students to enter the workforce as legally trained professionals, or to move on to their practical training, a Masters in Law, or other graduate degree program. For graduates who choose not to become solicitors or barristers, they will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and analytical abilities required to enter the legal and professional job markets in other capacities, including jobs in administration, finance, banking, education, publishing, journalism, politics, law enforcement and more.
Students who have already obtained an undergraduate degree may opt to enroll in the LLB program as a graduate entry student. This route allows for the LLB studies to be completed in two years rather than three. Interested applicants should first check with their desired jurisdiction to ensure that a two year law qualification satisfies the local requirements.
AAU also offers a preparatory program: the Certificate of Higher Education in Common Law. This program opens a a path to legal studies for students who are not yet eligible for admission directly to the LLB program or who desire a slower paced and more in-depth foundation. The two-year program is also appropriate for students who want to learn the principles of common law and receive formal recognition for their studies but who don’t wish to pursue a full LLB degree.
The intensive and demanding program, which combines the first year LLB courses with laws support courses and general education, is designed to support laws studies at a slower pace while developing language and writing skills and laying a strong foundation for future LLB courses such as Jurisprudence and EU Law. After successfully completing the certificate program, students are able to progress directly on to the second year of the LLB degree.

Merit-Based Scholarships and Financial Aid
Through a series of financial incentives, you can better manage your tuition costs, helping keep a distinguished education affordable. We provide scholarships based on academic achievement measured by a student’s Grade Point Average (GPA). Your GPA is calculated cumulatively from the beginning of your studies at AAU. To be eligible for the merit-based scholarship, you must have already completed two full-time semesters and have taken at least 4 courses the previous semester. The level of your GPA then determines the tuition discount as shown in the table below. Typically, over 11% of our degree-seeking students receive this scholarship and it may range from 10% to 100% of your tuition covered depending on your GPA. The merit-based scholarship is applicable only to AAU's tuition fees, not to those of the University of London.
Financial aid is also available in the form of manageable installments of tuition, as well as the opportunity to work at AAU while you study.
Graduates of the LLB program receive a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of London and are able to practice law in England and Wales.
