Amsterdam Fashion Academy
Amsterdam Fashion Academy is a private and international academy situated in an elegant townhouse in the heart of Amsterdam. It is a hub of student-centred learning with a high level of personal attention.
Amsterdam Fashion Academy offers Bachelor’s degrees with Honours in Fashion Design and in Fashion Business (both accredited by Buckinghamshire New University in the UK), a Foundation Diploma in Fashion, a Fast-Track course and summer courses. These recently update programmes are based on five pillars: entrepreneurship and brand development, sustainability and diversity/inclusion, academic research, digital transformation, and individuality.
This Academy prides itself on being an intimate and personal fashion academy putting quality before quantity. Students are included in groups of no more than 14 students and work with a coach on a Personal Development Plan to identify the right career path.
Amsterdam Fashion Academy’s students are treated as individuals and not just as a student number. The international teaching team supports them to grow as professionals and helps them unleash their creative potential while equipping them with all the skills and knowledge they need for a successful future in fashion.
As of fall 2021, 73% of students are international coming from all over Europe and the words, and 27% of students are Dutch.
Founded in 2013, Amsterdam Fashion Academy is now owned by Luiss Business School, a top business school in Italy, part of the Luiss University, a prestigious and world-renowned private university affiliated with the biggest Italian employers’ organization, Confindustria.
Its industry committee includes professionals who currently have, or occupied in the past, prominent positions in brands such as Nike, Bulgari, Hugo Boss, Dr. Martins. Students have also the opportunity to undertake internships and work on industry projects with brands such as Viktor & Rolf, Iris van Herpen, Bas Kosters, Reconstruct, FOUR Amsterdam, SuitSupply, among others.
Amsterdam Fashion Academy believes in a more personal admission process, which is not only focused on a high school grade. Prospective students and families are invited to personal orientation online or on-campus meetings, also during an Open Day, to discuss further motivations, interests, goals and, of course, about the programme of interest.

UK-accredited Bachelor's degree with Honours
A British Bachelor’s Honours degree is one of the most widely established and recognized degrees worldwide. A Bachelor’s degree with Honours means that the qualification is equal to any other academic degree program awarded, while an ordinary BA degree without honors does not carry the same academic weighting or credibility.
Focus on entrepreneurship and brand development
Students learn the principles of entrepreneurship and develop a go-to-market project.
Key topics are sustainability, diversity, inclusion
Students explore the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by the UN, develop critical thinking skills while analyzing diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry and in the culture world.

The Amsterdam Fashion Academy is located in the city center. Amsterdam has a multicultural society and freedom in the choice of lifestyle. It is a safe and welcoming city with a large student community representing many nationalities. The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is a vibrant fashion hub that is presently home to more than a hundred fashion houses and designers. Thanks to its strategic location, the area is also an important logistics center for the distribution of fashion items. This combination of creative excellence and logistic superiority acts as a magnet to many international companies in the fashion industry.
Amsterdam is home to a variety of world-famous museums. No trip to the city is complete without stopping by the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum or Stedelijk Museum, but the city also has a multitude of treasures outside of the Museum District. Amsterdam is full of things to do and see! Since entire guidebooks have been written, everyone enjoys different things, and half the fun of living in a new place is exploring it for yourself: get lost in the arty Jordaan, try raw herring, relax at Westerpark's industrial area which has been transformed into a colorful cultural hub, bike through Amsterdam’s UNESCO
protected canal belt, visit IJ-hallen that is one of the best markets on the continent, attend Amsterdam's largest cultural event Uitmarkt or enjoy Amsterdam Dance Event.
Campus accommodation is not common in the Netherlands. Most students rent a room in a student house. We recommend the Student Hotel and the Student Experience.
