Master's Program in Finance
The Master's Program in Finance at Aalto University in Finland aims to provide a dynamic, demanding, supportive learning-centered environment which:
- helps all students develop a solid scientific approach to financial problems—at the same time, preparing some of the students for the world’s best Finance PhD Programs
- prepares students for jobs in the world’s most selective companies in the fields of international banking, management consultancy, and related areas
- encourages the development of the broader communication, teamwork, ethical, quantitative, and intercultural skills that students need both in future general management positions and as active citizens discussing the issues of the day
Students enrolled in the Master's Program in Finance have further opportunity to tailor their finance degree by specializing in one of two areas of concentration: (1) financial markets, or (2) corporate finance.
Focus areas of the Finance Masters
The financial markets focus of the Master's Program in Finance illuminates issues such as the behavior and determinants of security prices, their implications on portfolio management, behavioral finance and investor psychology, venture capital, risk management, as well as pricing options, futures, and other derivatives.
In the corporate finance area of the Master's Program in Finance, students focus on such questions as analyzing and choosing investment projects, mergers and acquisitions, agency theory, investment banking and obtaining funds from the primary markets, project and trade finance, and capital structure and dividend decisions.
Upon completion of the Master's Program in Finance, graduates are well-prepared to launch successful careers in the financial industry, for instance, with brokerage firms, investment and commercial banks, mutual fund companies, and insurance companies.
Admission requirements
