Clinical Education MEd

The MEd Clinical Education Programme at the University of Leeds is an interprofessional course designed to transform healthcare professionals into exceptional educators. This programme offers a responsive, work-related, and academically rigorous pathway for all healthcare practitioners involved in teaching and learning. Whether you are based in a clinical setting or a higher education institution, this course will enhance your understanding of cutting-edge education and assessment pedagogies. Throughout the programme, you will develop various skills and deepen your understanding of core clinical education concepts while learning from expert academics and clinicians from the Faculty of Medicine and Health, as well as seasoned practitioners from NHS Trusts. In the first year, you can choose between campus-based or online delivery, while the second and third years are delivered entirely online. Starting in the 2024/25 academic year, the online PgCert programme will also be open to international applicants, providing a unique opportunity to study alongside peers from around the world.Key highlights of the course include the flexibility of delivery modes, eligibility to register as a fellow of Advance HE, and the opportunity to learn with other healthcare professionals. The programme also focuses on developing pedagogical research skills and provides a clear career pathway for healthcare professional educators. The PG Certificate in Clinical Education is mapped to the Advance HE PSF Standards, enabling students to apply for Fellowship of Advance HE upon successful completion.The course structure includes a variety of modules that integrate workplace learning experiences, encouraging critical and creative connections between practice and theoretical perspectives. Assessment methods are diverse, including microteaching, case studies, and a dissertation, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
