The Bachelor in English Philology programme offers students the solid written and spoken communication skills required for workplace success in English (C1–C2), as well as the fundamentals of English linguistics, literature and the culture of English-speaking countries.

We offer General English and Business English courses. Our General English courses focus on the four core language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing to help you to use the English language more effectively. Our Business English course will give you the edge you need in the 21st global market.

English Philology Programme aims at preparing English philology specialists with a broad range of knowledge and competencies.

The aim of the program is to train competent, academically literate professionals well-versed in the fundamental aspects of the English language, including an ability to provide linguistic analyses, as well as in both the historical and the synchronic aspects of Anglophone cultures and literatures.

Our English Language summer school is designed for students with English as a second language. Our three week programme provides expert coaching and immerses students in an English speaking environment.

The BA in English Philology is a three-year programme for those who want to turn language passion into a global career. You’ll master English at an advanced level and gain skills in communication, translation, intercultural competence and digital tools for language professionals.

Available as a double major with Communication. The BA program in English Literature provides students with a solid foundation in the history and development of English and American literature, while also giving students the tools to develop high-level analytical skills, critical thinking, argumentation, and self-expression.

This BA (Honours) in English Language degree explores human communication by focusing on the English language, its history, diversity and flexibility. You’ll learn what distinguishes machine language from human language and how people adapt and change their ways of communicating in multilingual and multicultural contexts.

The curriculum of the English Language and Literature Department includes the study of mythology, British society and culture, and literary genres and periods ranging from Old and Middle English to the eighteenth, nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries.

This Diploma of Higher Education in English Language diploma explores human communication by focusing on the English language, its history, diversity and flexibility. You’ll learn what distinguishes machine language from human language and how people adapt and change their ways of communicating in multilingual and multicultural contexts.

If you love the written and spoken word, this course is for you. As a comprehensive and stimulating introduction to the English language and literature, you'll investigate how the English language is used in a variety of global contexts, and explore literature from different historical periods and in diverse cultural settings. BA (Honours) in English Language and Literature you’ll explore writing and speech in a wide range of forms and develop your skills in the interpretation of literary and non-literary texts.

UNC Charlotte’s online Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Teaching English as a Second Language equips aspiring teachers at all stages for English as a Second Language (ESL) careers. It also offers a specific M.A.T. pathway for non-education majors seeking initial ESL licensure.

The B.A. program in linguistics in our department is designed to give students a solid background in the core areas of phonology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, as well as in more applied areas such as psycholinguistics and neurolinguistics. Studies in the department take place in English, but this is not the only language being studied; the approach in the department is that of general linguistics which aims to study human language and the human linguistic capacity.

PolyU climbs to 66th in the QS World University Ranking 2022 and 55th in Linguistics in QS World University Ranking by Subject 2022. This BA programme aims to nurture students to become competent English language professionals and responsible global citizens in the 21st century.
