Study Paths

English Philology

Communication in multiple languages and between different cultures is necessary for efficient work in virtually any setting. Expert proficiency in language and communication is thus a highly sought-after trait.

Our English philology program offers knowledge, experience, and practical analytical and IT skills necessary to guide and develop your career as a translator, teacher, editor, communication and intercultural integration specialist, or an independent entrepreneur.

We offer two extension modules within our program: Translation Studies and Language Education. Each module will allow you to gain knowledge and practical skills necessary to work in the broad sphere of language services.

English Philology with an additional oriental language

The dynamic growth of intercultural education and economic cooperation between Europe and the countries of the Middle and Far East is creating broad and attractive career prospects for individuals with knowledge of Oriental languages. In response to these global trends, we have developed a unique degree programme that combines English Philology with intensive study of an additional Oriental language of your choice:

  • Chinese
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Persian
  • Arabic

During your studies, you will develop advanced proficiency in English, along with practical skills tailored to your chosen module path: Translation Studies or Language Education. From the very first semester, you will also begin learning your selected Oriental language — saving time and money you would otherwise spend on extra courses.

If you wish to significantly enhance your philological and communication competencies, and distinguish yourself in future recruitment processes with knowledge of an Eastern language — this programme is an ideal choice.

Please note: This programme is taught entirely in English and is therefore recommended for candidates with at least B2 level English proficiency.

American Studies

Are you intrigued by the culture of North America and want to explore it and learn real-life English at the same time? American Studies as part of the English Philology program at the VIZJA University will enable you to do just that! The program combines intensive development of language competencies with a module devoted to learning about American culture and linguistic diversity. As a result, when you graduate, you will have the language skills to enter the profession of English language specialist, but you will also have additional skills that your potential employers will value.

Because the program is practice-oriented, you will build a philologist’s skillset and develop business skills necessary to run your own business, such as providing language services.

Note: Due to the nature of the program and the international community of students and faculty, the program is conducted in English and is therefore recommended for candidates with at least a B2 language proficiency level.
