The Department, like almost all physics departments in Italy, lives in symbiosis with the most important Italian research organizations (CNR, INFN, INAF, ...). Its activity is also in close connection with the LENS (European Laboratory of Non-Linear Spectroscopy): an infrastructure of excellence, unique in Italy, which is also located on the campus.

The International MSc Programme in Physics, delivered entirely in English, is designed to provide students with a thorough and flexible training in the field of physical sciences and its technological applications, in an exciting and international research environment. The Master’s Degree programme in Physics belongs to the Class of the Master Degree Courses in Physics LM-17, lasts two years and requires the acquisition of 120 academic educational credits (CFU) to obtain the degree. The main educational objective of this Master of Science program is to prepare an engineer able to “produce” innovation both in the industrial environment as well as in basic research and which is highly competitive in the global market, with particular reference to the physical and optical technology, nanotechnology and photonics sectors.

The aim of this master's Degree in Geophysics entirely taught in English is to provide students with the knowledge to develop and apply mathematical and numerical models of geophysical and environmental systems and processes, design and carry out geophysical observation and exploration of the planet, analyze and design activities for the mitigation of natural and environmental risks.
