The master in Nanoscience and Molecular Nanotechnology is an interuniversity Master participated by 7 Spanish Universities. It addresses aspects that are at the intersection of one of the most novel sciences today, the Nanoscience, with traditional scientific aspects of the Molecular Science such as Molecular Electronics, Molecular Magnetism, Supramolecular Chemistry, Surface Physics, or Science of Molecular Materials. The Master is aimed at training students in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology so that they can develop a professional activity in this field, or a research activity leading to a Doctoral Thesis.

The Master of Nanoscience examines phenomena on the atomic and molecular scales, where the structure of matter determines important electrical, optical and mechanical properties. A multidisciplinary scientific education integrating physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, material sciences and bioscience engineering empowers students to create new nanocomponents, systems and products.

The Interuniversity Master's Degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology responds to the need to integrate into a body of knowledge the advances that are taking place in the field of nanoscience and the technological applications of nanosystems.

In the MSc in Nanoscience, you will work together with world-class scientists: top researchers from the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials provide education in the courses. Top researchers also provide supervision in four individual projects, in different research groups. Also, our program is the home of the 2016 Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, Ben Feringa, and the Nobel Prize winner in Physics, Frits Zernike; Spinoza Prize Winner Bart van Wees teaches in several of the given core courses. The MSc in Nanoscience is built upon the research cycle: ranging from design to synthesis, and device building, characterization, and research, to the theoretical foundation and improved design. It is a selective Master's degree: that assures you are studying as a cohort in a small but very motivated and talented group of (international) students. Our program is a 2-year full of partial scholarships for all admitted students. The word Nanoscience refers to the study, manipulation and engineering of matter, particles and structures on the nanometer scale. Important properties of materials, such as the electrical, optical, thermal and mechanical properties, are determined by the way molecules and atoms assemble on the nanoscale into larger structures. Nanotechnology is the application of nanoscience leading to the use of new nanomaterials and nanosize components in useful products.

Admission to the nano-SE PhD program requires a bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering or science discipline based on physical science. The Introduction to Nanoscience course is offered for students from a range of backgrounds as an introduction to nanotechnology. Check with your department to determine whether credit for this course may be applied towards your degree.

In the Work-Integrated Master’s degree in Nanoscience at Aarhus University, you study part-time while working part-time in a company or organisation. This setup lets you apply nanoscale methods and scientific concepts directly to real projects, giving you both practical experience and a high-quality master’s degree after the 4-year programme.
