Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefit
The MBA programs under GLOBIS University have been designated as an education and training facility by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
If you have paid employment insurance in Japan for at least two years as of the start of the program and meet other conditions (e.g., complete the MBA program within two years, meet the course accreditation criteria set by the University every six months), you may be entitled to receive a refund of up to 1.28 million JPY over two years.
*The maximum refund of 1.28 million JPY applies to students who enroll on or after October 1, 2024. Students who enrolled in 2023 or earlier are eligible for a maximum refund of 1.12 million JPY.
**As the designated period for the Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefit will end on September 30, 2026, GLOBIS University will apply to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare for renewal of its designation effective October 1, 2026. The information and procedures below are provided on the assumption that the program will be redesignated. Actual procedures will only be available after mid-August 2026, and only if GLOBIS University is officially redesignated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Please note that redesignation is not guaranteed.
What are the Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits?
Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits support mid- and long-term career development for workers and promote employment stability and re-employment.
Workers covered by employment insurance who have satisfied certain conditions and complete the Specialized Practice Education and Training designated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, Hello Work will reimburse a portion of their education and training expenses. Amount of Benefits
The maximum amount to be paid is 1.28 million JPY. Please see the following chart for an estimate (excludes enrollment fee):

Note:
- The additional benefit of 160,000 JPY applies to students enrolled from the 2024 academic year onward. To receive the additional benefit, you must be enrolled in employment insurance at the time of the benefit application.
- The above example applies to a full, standard tuition payment.
- Tuition must be paid before the start of each term. Benefits are disbursed after the completion of each term.
- Benefits are to be paid every 6 months. You are required to file with Hello Work each time.
- The amount of benefits may vary depending on the amount of your tuition payment. Deductions due to scholarships will reduce the amount of benefits available.
- You are required to complete the program within two years in order to receive the benefits.
- Upon earning 36 credits, you are not required to take any additional courses. You are required to complete the program in order to receive the additional payment.
- The first application for Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits can be made six months after enrollment. Therefore, the benefits cannot be used to cover the admission fee or tuition for the first and second terms. Thank you for your understanding.
Eligible Persons
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- Complete the program within 2 years
- Be eligible for employment insurance in Japan for a given number of years before the start of the program
- Meet the requirements set by GLOBIS University every six months after the start of the program
Requirements set by Hello Work
- If you are receiving Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits for the first time: You need to have been eligible for employment insurance for at least 2 years cumulatively or have lost eligibility no more than a year before the start of the program.
- If you have received Specialized Practice Education and Training Benefits in the past: You need to have been eligible for employment insurance for at least 3 years cumulatively between the start of the previous course that was subject to the previous benefits and the start of the program. The total amount of the benefits available is 1.68 million JPY over 10 years.

Requirements set by GLOBIS University
Attendance
You must take 3 or more courses in a 6-month period and must meet the attendance requirements (as specified in the syllabus) for at least 3 of those courses.
Please note:
- The Research Project course counts as 2 courses
- Once 36 credits have been earned, you are not required to take any further courses. At the time of the fourth payment, you must have met the requirements for completion of the program.
Credit requirements (cumulative)
At the time of application for each payment of the benefit, you must have the following number of credits.
- After 6 months: 6 credits
- After 12 months: 12 credits
- After 18 months: 24 credits
- After 24 months: 36 credits
Curriculum Structure
Each course falls into one of three categories: Fundamental, Applied, and Specialized. You’ll start by acquiring core knowledge with Fundamental courses, and then hone your skills with Applied courses. From there, Specialized courses focus on areas specific to your future career.
