This unique program will kick-start your career as a Group Exercise Instructor. It will teach you how to assess, train, and support clients in gyms and fitness centres, and how to lead safe, inclusive yoga sessions in studios, gyms, and community spaces. Practical Training
Our Certificate III in Fitness provides a well-rounded approach with lessons combining theoretical learning with practical, hands-on training. Students benefit from opportunities to develop their skills in real gym environments located close to their campuses. Through our partnerships with Fitness First and Goodlife Health Clubs, students have access to state-of-the-art gym facilities to confidently apply what they’ve learned in theory. During the summer, some trainers also take classes outdoors for a fresh training experience. Both our Melbourne and Sydney campuses are equipped with on-site yoga studios, offering dedicated spaces for practical training.
Our Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching delivers a balanced curriculum, blending comprehensive theory with practical experience. Students gain a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, health and safety, and client relations, while deepening their yoga practice under the guidance of experienced professionals.
We are also proud to partner with Yoga Australia, the leading peak body for yoga teachers, therapists, and trainers in the country. Upon successful completion of the course, graduates are eligible to register as Level 1 accredited teachers with Yoga Australia, fulfilling the 300-hour training requirement.

The Fitness course is made up of comprises 15 units of competency:

Yoga Teaching
The Yoga Teaching course is made up of 12 units of competency, consisting of 10 core units and 2 elective units:

- Develop and instruct gym-based exercise programs for individual clients

This course is timetabled for 104 weeks, including 80 weeks of training and assessment across 8 terms of 10 weeks, and 24 weeks of holidays. Each week, you are required to complete 20 hours of training and assessment, made up of 14 hours of weekly classroom training and 6 hours of structured study. An additional 10 hours per week of self-directed learning should be set aside for homework. A plan for self-directed learning will be provided for a 10-week period that outlines your learning activities in preparation for assessment requirements.

Training: Yoga training takes place on campus. In Brisbane, training occurs on campus as well as at Stretch Yoga, located at Level 2/129 Margaret Street in Brisbane city. Fitness training takes place on campus and in working gyms. In practical classes, you will learn and practice skills relevant to your future workplace. To successfully complete this component of your studies, you will need to complete a range of tasks, including keeping a log book and practical assessments.
Assessments: Assessments include written short question answers, case studies, presentations, role plays and practical demonstrations in a simulated environment, and projects.
