The Social Services Worker program is a two-year Ontario College Diploma. Students will learn human behavior and psychology, individual and social problems, and proven social techniques. Graduates will enter this competitive field with the necessary practical skills and hands-on experience to begin a career within private or public social agencies and programs.

The Social Service Worker diploma program combines in-class learning with field experience to teach you the skills you need to succeed. You will study theoretical models and approaches to practice as you develop skills in group facilitation, mental health supports, social innovation and anti-oppressive practice.

The Social Services Worker Diploma (SSWD) program provides opportunities for students to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and qualifications to enable them to work in a human services worker field. The program involves two years of full-time study, with a combination of practice, theory, and academic course requirements aimed to prepare students to become critical practitioners with an emphasis on advocacy, social justice, and social change. The program may also be taken on a part-time basis.

The Social Service Worker (Intensive) program, comprised of three terms, is an accelerated model of the two-year Social Service Worker program. This program is available for students who have completed prior post-secondary education in a related field (six courses in psychology, anthropology, and/or sociology).

The Community Social Work program at Portage College provides you with practical training and experience to assist individuals, families, and various groups in navigating their way through situations in life.

Facilitated by the School of Community and Health Studies, Community and Justice Services courses will help you to gain the expert knowledge and practical skills to work in diverse settings that address youth and adult populations that are at risk, currently incarcerated involved with the criminal justice system, or involved in rehabilitation programs.

This Diploma of Higher Education in History and Politics wide-ranging course will develop your knowledge of history while providing a critical understanding of political issues, concepts and institutions. You’ll tackle such exciting and challenging issues as power and equality, debates in politics at the national and global level, culture and beliefs, imperialism and resistance, and class and gender.

Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international Undergraduate Certificate in Global Business awarded by the school's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned.
