Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international Undergraduate Certificate in Liberal Studies awarded by the school's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned.

Pitt’s African Studies Undergraduate Certificate allows students in any major — from the arts and sciences to the professional schools — to enhance their program of study and complement their department major with international studies. The certificate is ideal for students interested in learning and gaining a broad interdisciplinary understanding of Africa as a world region, those who want to build expertise in African studies, including gaining intermediate-level competence in an African language. Successful completion of a certificate can provide an important building block for careers in the Foreign Service, government, business, law, academe, and public service.

The undergraduate Certificate in Asian Studies is designed for any student to explore a scholarly interest in Asian issues and to develop language proficiency. We encourage students to meet with the Asian Studies international advisor as early as possible to craft an effective plan of study incorporating Asian courses. Attain an in-depth grasp of an Asian region or theme through cultures, languages, histories, and economies.

Discover diverse perspectives and enhance your knowledge with our 15-hour certificate. This includes a 6-hour core featuring WGS 200 Introduction to Women’s Studies and WGS 399 Global Women’s Issues. You can further build on this foundation with additional Women’s and Gender Studies courses or electives. If you're a post-undergraduate or graduate student, you can also include graduate courses like ENGL 875 Seminar in your certificate program. Both WGS 200 Introduction to Women’s Studies and WGS 399 Global Women’s Issues can be used to satisfy general education requirements.
