This course is helpful for learners to improve their existing skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. This course enables learners to communicate effectively in a variety of situations, such as the workplace or academic purposes, or international tours in English-speaking countries.

6 Weeks – General English Language. English for beginners is designed to provide non-native English students with everyday English skills. Students will be able to develop the British English language skills necessary for everyday communication in an English-speaking environment in Cambridge, England, and the UK. You will learn vocabulary, grammar, and skills to communicate in British English.

MIT Professional Education’s Advanced Study Program (ASP) allows you to experience an MIT education—your way—by enrolling in classes as a non-degree student for a semester, a year, or even longer. The Advanced Study Program welcomes part-time students from the greater Boston area who wish to continue their education by taking one or two classes per semester while working.

You will enhance your reading, writing, and listening skills with essential English vocabulary.

Full-time students often come to MIT while enrolled in a degree program at another institution, or they may be taking a sabbatical from work or transitioning into a new field of employment.

The Freshman College at the Academy of Ruhr-University Bochum offers you a specialized programme to prepare you for a successful start to your studies. Our innovative course uses modern learning technology to teach you the language, technical and cultural skills you need to succeed in your studies!

We offer online tests for the General Education Development (GED) . The GED test measures your skills and abilities in five separate exams, consisting of Science, Social Studies, Reading, Mathematics and Writing. You will earn a high school equivalency diploma from Alberta Education if you achieve a passing grade of 450 on each of the five exams.

The education major is designed for the undergraduate to recognize education as a discipline whose presence is historical, social, political, and economical. Through social inquiry, critical analysis, and community engagement, education majors will examine the central position educational systems occupy in civic functioning. A student majoring in education must complete a minimum of 11-12 units depending on path. Pending all college approval, the four paths include: the Education Major, Teaching and Learning, Critical Social Foundations of Education, or Environmental Education. Whether you intend to teach, pursue work in policy, research, or administration, or simply want to be an active and vocal citizen, the education department will prepare you to think critically and creatively about the problems and potential solutions in the discipline. Through the inquiry-led curriculum, independent research, and Mentored Advanced Projects, you’ll develop flexibility in all your pursuits. If you’d like to earn your teaching license, you’ll major in the humanities, social sciences, or sciences, take the education courses for your secondary licensure (grades 5–12) or your K-12 licensure in ESL, and do a semester of student teaching.

This short course will help you to prepare for returning to education. It will give you the chance to familiarise yourself with the college environment, prepare you for study at college and equip you with the skills you need to return to education.

The Education minor, taken in conjunction with an undergraduate student’s major area of study, is designed to provide insight into careers in various educational fields as well as an appreciation for the role education plays in society. The minor does not lead to teacher certification.

Preparing for a teaching career—which can include obtaining your MAT at Smith-is foremost among the reasons for studying education, but it can also be an important foundation for other fields, such as history, science, literature, business and counseling.
