The Construction Techniques certificate program at Conestoga is a one-year program that provides students with a foundation for entering the trades.

This program provides students with the technical knowledge and skill of reading and interpreting building codes. Understanding materials used to meet the demands of the codes and the documentation needed to comply with inspections taking place during construction, remodeling, or maintenance of structures. With these new skills, students will obtain entry-level employment as an inspector or an inspector’s helper in new construction, remodeling construction, or operation of an existing building.

This Plumbing Techniques program covers residential, commercial, and industrial applications in the plumbing industry with a focus on residential plumbing. It is a hands-on program that may benefit anyone seeking to enter an apprenticeship or any construction-related career path.

Civil engineers help to create the structures and systems that sustain society. They are responsible for designing, building, maintaining and improving bridges, roads, canals, docks, office buildings, hospitals, schools, airports, power stations, railways, and flood defence facilities everywhere. This HNC is designed for those who are already working in the civil engineering industry in a range of roles, including trainee site engineers or quantity surveyors.

The Certificate of Home Staging provides students with the basics of the Home Staging business, including in site-training with a Professional Home Stager. Cañada College is the only community college in the Bay Area offering this certificate.

Welding Technology touches on every profession and industry that uses metal. This certificate provides students with the technical knowledge and skill in oxyacetylene cutting, and SMAW welding to be able to enter into a welding career in either a structured steel field or shop environment. With these new skills, students will be able to obtain entry-level employment as a welder’s helper in the field or in welding shops welding structural steel.
