11 Electrical Installation Certificate Programs

The Construction Techniques certificate program at Conestoga is a one-year program that provides students with a foundation for entering the trades.

This Electrical Techniques program focuses on building a working knowledge of electricity and electronics in relation to residential and commercial electrician applications. Students will develop skills and competencies in electrical theory, network cabling, electrical system installation, and electrical workplace safety.

The Construction Electrician certificate program provides students with the opportunity to acquire the theory and skills needed to gain employment as residential, commercial, and industrial construction electricians. Skills are developed through basic electrical theory and practical work project assignments. This program will give students a broad theoretical and practical background in all aspects of electrical construction. Graduates of the construction electrician program are prepared to find employment as residential, commercial, and industrial construction electricians. Because of the continual growth in building construction, there are many employment possibilities.

As our dependence on electricity grows, so too does the demand for skilled electrical workers. Certificate in Electrical Techniques students are introduced to electrical principles and building construction wiring while technician students advance into industrial automation and PLC programming, preparing for tomorrow's trends in next-generation robotics

The mission of the Electricity program is to ensure all electrical students acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to succeed in the electrical field. The Electricity program stresses the understanding of all aspects of the electricity industry and prepares students with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to succeed in the residential and commercial fields. The training includes assembly, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment used in these fields.

Intended for experienced electricians who have never gained formal qualifications in inspection and testing or who may wish to update and reaffirm their skills. This qualification demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you need to be an approved electrician, including designing and installing systems, appropriate legislation, testing installations, issuing safety certificates.

The National Certificate (Vocational) offers learners a vocational alternative to an academic Grade 10-12 by offering specialised training on NQF levels 2-4.

Construction and Maintenance Electrician is a compulsory certified trade regulated by the Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act. A person working in this trade must hold a valid Certificate of Qualification or be registered as an apprentice. Upon successfully completing the apprenticeship program and passing a trade examination, a person working in this trade is entitled to a Certificate of Apprenticeship and a Certificate of Qualification.

This course, which is nationally recognised by employers, provides you with a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the engineering sector.

Pre-Employment - Electrician Admission Requirements Tuition and Fees Program Structure The Electrical - Pre-Employment program will give you the skills needed to succeed in an entry level position, leading to a career as an electrician. This program will provide you with a solid academic foundation and refreshment in the areas of trades related science, mathematics, report writing and employability skills. The program also provides technical training.

You will learn about our design of a new EV Charging industry standard, and a set of qualifications aimed at skilled electricians, installers and engineers wishing to upskill, to safely install and maintain Electric Vehicle charging points. These qualifications can lead directly into employment in the EV Charging sub-sector, offering learners the chance to develop their skills and knowledge to a high standard recognised by the industry.
