Learn how to incorporate your creations into video games and bring your digital art to life through 3D modeling, engine integration and animation. Start building your dream virtual worlds with our Game Art concentration. Our hands-on curriculum allows students to improve their technical abilities and apply those enhanced skills to their chosen profession. As a student, you’ll be exposed to every stage of the animation process from character creation to building environments for games.

Video games, animated movies, special effects, motion graphics, and even architectural renderings all depend on the work of animators. MTSU’s Bachelor of Science degree in Animation helps students learn how to bring their ideas to life on the screen. Students begin with traditional art and animation techniques and progress through advanced digital tools and techniques, and theory used by major animation studios for films, television, video games, and more. This program provides students the opportunity to prepare for careers in 3-D animation, 2-D animation, motion graphics, and special visual effects.

The Bachelor of Science in Digital Illustration and Animation aims to produce professionals in the new emerging field in Digital Illustration and Animation. The Advertising and entertainment sectors are fast moving towards using computers and digital technologies to produce more attractive advertisement and entertainment products.

Graduates will be proficient in 3D animation and digital arts; game audio and music composition; experimental game design; interactive narrative and game storytelling; artificial intelligence in games; virtual and augmented reality; critical analysis of games, culture, and technology; and animation. Game programming and software engineering are also an option for the student to learn through our Computer Science department.
