5 Drama A-level Programs

This is an ideal course for those who enjoy reading plays, performing and exploring ideas. You may or may not have studied GCSE Drama or BTEC Performing Arts but essentially you will be comfortable with: reading and performing, discussing and working with others in a creative team, watching and discussing play performances and writing.

A practical, engaging and creative course where you will examine the work of drama practitioners, explore a range of drama as a practical art form, and work independently to create your own performances. You will be given a thorough grounding on the basics of performing and experience the innovative styles of playwrights, directors, actors, and companies.

Drama and Theatre Studies is an exciting, collaborative and practical, as well as academic, subject choice. Some of our students aspire to be actors, but even without this, acting ability is valuable in building confidence, presentation skills and physical presence.

If you’re reading this it’s because you already know the unbeatable excitement of live performance. No amount of technology can replace watching real actors, or having a live audience right in front of you. That’s what we study.

This course is suitable for you if you want to complement your study of English literature and language with a practical element. You will be encouraged to develop performance skills through a range of practical, theoretical and analytical activities. You will be expected to dedicate time outside of normal hours for rehearsal.
