The programme offers a comprehensive and globally oriented education for future veterinarians. Combining evidence-based theoretical knowledge with hands-on training, the programme prepares students for careers in clinical practice, animal production, veterinary public health and biomedical research at international levels with a One Health approach.e the profession of veterinarian.

The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program is designed to offer first-class scientific and clinical training in veterinary medicine. The program enables students to understand the basic biological principles of normal body function and disease, and the ability to distinguish the pathological from the normal, to prevent disease and safely manage the processes of animal production.

The general objective of our IMVM-IUEM is to provide an excellent, integrated, and professionalizing higher education in Veterinary Medicine, always articulated with the One Health perspective, ensuring the appropriate training in the major areas of veterinary activities, including Clinic, Public Health, Animal Production and Technological Processing, Sanitary Inspection and Health Support at the interface of Animal Production, Quality, Environmental and Sanitary Control, Teaching and Research in Veterinary Sciences.

The doctoral study program Veterinary Public Health, Forensic Veterinary Medicine and Toxicology is an academically focused study program, corresponding to the current state and level of science and the needs of practice in Europe. Graduates of the doctoral study Veterinary Public Health, Forensic Veterinary Medicine and Toxicology gained in-depth theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired through independent creative activity and the acquisition of new scientific knowledge in the field of study. Graduates can actively share their knowledge in the field of study at the international level and publicly. Based on this qualification, graduates are mainly employed at research institutions and universities.

The program Veterinary Medicine aims at educating highly skilled veterinary surgeons capable of working in the private and state network of veterinary services.

Estonian University of Life Sciences is accredited by the EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) providing full-time six-year education in the field of veterinary medicine. The student can focus on one of the two main tracks: large animal and equine medicine or small-animal medicine.

'One Medicine - One Health' concept links human, animal and environmental health. In recent years the science of veterinary medicine has rapidly expanded. At present this science is vital for animal protection, herd health, monitoring of widespread diseases and safe food production of animal origin. It is important for human health to provide careful monitoring of livestock health and emerging zoonotic diseases.

This program prepares students for a career in veterinary medicine with a strong foundation in animal health, clinical practice, and public health. Through hands-on training and theoretical study, students gain expertise in diagnosing and treating animal diseases while understanding their role in safeguarding human health.

Educating and training veterinary professionals is the main goal of the DVM programme. During the11-semester period of studies(5,5 years), students develop a strong core of veterinary science knowledge, are able to follow their own area of interest, and gain a wealth of professional experience through various internships in veterinary clinics, farms, and food industry entities.

The master's degree study programme in veterinary hygiene and ecology prepares students for the profession of veterinarian with a core focus on the health and hygiene of food and raw materials of animal origin, veterinary ecology and infectious diseases of animals and epizootiology related to food and raw materials of animal origin.

The study program meets the requirements of Directive 2005/36 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September 2005 on the recognition of professional qualifications (this act has been changed, current consolidated version: 24/04/2020), which apply to regulated profession "veterinarian". The Master's degree program in Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology corresponds to the current state and level of science and the needs of practice in Europe. The study contains theoretical knowledge and enables the acquisition of the necessary practical skills needed for the performance of the profession, including employment in creative activities, and also prepares students for study in a doctoral study program.

Specialised integration and application of knowledge within a single specific activity (core module) in Veterinary public health, including an approved research project.

A master's degree in Veterinary Medicine (MMedVet) is a clinical specialty degree at NQF-level 9 of 360 credits to be completed in 3 years of full-time study as part of a residential training program. The MMedVet degree may entitle the holder to registration as a specialist with the South African Veterinary Council together with other requirements as determined by Council.
