4 Environmental Sciences Master's Degree Programs in Brazil

The Academic Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences (PPG-CA-MA), a course recommended by CAPES grade 4, started its first class in 2011. Since then, the research work of the team of teachers and students has addressed the environmental challenges, considering the interaction between human and natural systems that emerge in the contemporary world.

Environmental sustainability is present in all segments linked to the maintenance of the quality of human life. The themes related to civil construction, environmental law, environmental conditions that affect human health, the social communication of environmental issues, to public and private administration that deal with natural resources, are demanded by professionals from the most varied areas. The aspects related to environmental transformation and conservation, although central, went beyond its scope and are the basis for understanding environmental sustainability. For this reason, the general objective of the program is the training of masters in the Environment capable of producing and applying interdisciplinary environmental knowledge, proposing methodologies for the solution of environmental problems, and producing information that supports environmental planning. The program belongs to the Environmental Sciences Concentration Area and has two lines of research: 1. Environmental Planning and Quality; and 2. Health and Environment.

Promote the training of researchers to respond scientifically to the needs of the area of ​​Environmental and Experimental Pathology. Qualify teachers for higher education. Assign the title of Master and/or Doctor in Environmental and Experimental Pathology. Upon completion of the Program, the EGRESS student is expected to : Be able to formulate research questions, plan and conduct high-caliber international research and academic development work within your field. Learn how to use scientific equipment, such as instruments and analysis tools in your area of ​​expertise. Get the scientific article (s) published in national and international magazines and newspapers. Be able to deal with complexity, create an overview, and synthesize scientific data. Be able to carry out critical and constructive analyzes of the scientific work in your field.

The Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program in Environment and Society started on 04/25/2014, with the first meeting of the Board, after approval by the UEG CsU and recommendation by CAPES. Prof. Marcos Antônio Pesquero was chosen as the first coordinator and Hamilton Afonso de Oliveira, the first vice coordinator. Immediately, the first selection process was organized, with the filling of the 14 vacancies offered. Teaching activities began in August 2014. The Master's Degree in Environment and Society was the eighth stricto sensu graduate program approved at the State University of Goiás, the second outside Anápolis.
