11 Construction Master's Degree Programs in Portugal

The MSc in Civil Engineering aims to give a professional specialization by developing the technical and scientific capabilities of the holders of a 1st cycle in Civil Engineering, which is offered by both institutions. The specialization fields in this 2nd cycle (Structures and Construction) as well as the classes' hours (after-work regime) seek to be in line with the needs and expectations recorded in the region.

Politécnico de Leiria is the first Polytechnic in Portugal to be granted the EUR-ACE® label at the bachelor level in Civil Engineering recognized by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education). The accreditation extended to Master in Civil Engineering, confirming education quality in this particular field of study and placing these programs among the best European universities and polytechnics.

Master in Integrated Design in Building Construction, is a postgraduate course with a duration of 2 Years/4 semesters (120 ECTS), essentially directed at students already graduated - and, even, professional activity - in the areas of Civil Engineering and Architecture, which aims to recreate, within the framework of a specialized academic training, the most efficient model of multidisciplinary development of building projects, referred as IPD Integrated Project Delivery.

It is the area of ​​engineering that involves the conception, planning, design, construction and maintenance of the built environment. Through Civil Engineering we transform and adapt nature, we design and build cities/populations, transport networks, structures for energy production, water supply and sanitation networks, river and maritime protection structures, thus contributing to promoting the well-being of global society and its sustainable development.

The Master's in Sustainable Energy Systems comprises integrated study in the fields of energy technologies, the environment, and sustainable development. A multi- and cross-disciplinary approach is adopted to energy and environmental problems, their solutions and the economic and social dimensions of sustainable development.

The Programme, shared by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture, both from the University of Porto, benefits from the sharing experience in previous years between the two institutions and aims to provide students a theoretical and practical experience for a deeper professional practice, beyond international borders, providing a variety of topics in the areas of planning, management, and urban policy in medium and large agglomerations.

The Master's Degree in Civil Engineering (MEC) aims to promote high-level training in the field of Civil Engineering, guaranteeing students the necessary qualification to perform full functions in this area. This mater course follows on of the Degree in Civil Engineering.

This master's course specializing in Structural Design aims to train designers with a solid background in the area of structures, seeking to provide more advanced and specialized skills to civil engineers graduated before or after the Bologna Process, or with master's degrees in civil engineering, allowing for the deepening of knowledge in designing new structures, verifying and reinforcing existing structures, optimizing solutions by modelling structural behaviour closer to reality or even experimenting, through scientific knowledge and the use of more advanced and design-specific calculation tools, based on the new Structural Eurocodes.

The objective of BIM A+ is to offer an advanced education program on BIM integrated design, construction, and operation processes, with a strong focus on the collaborative practices that are the cornerstone of such integration.

The general objective of the study cycle is to ensure specialized training in Civil Engineering, of an international nature, necessary for the exercise of the profession with the capacity to assume responsibility for the design of engineering solutions, serving the interest of society in general and its sustainable development.
