7 Biodiversity Master's Degree Programs in Spain

The Master in Protected Areas, Natural Resources and Biodiversity (MAPRNB) is supported by more than 30 years of continuous teaching experience in the degrees of Biology and Environmental Sciences, with its corresponding third cycle, and in the degrees of Biology, Environmental Sciences and Biotechnology that happen to them, as well as in the extensive research activity of the seven areas involved (Cell Biology, Botany, Crystallography and Mineralogy, Ecology, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Toxicology, Zoology).

The study of biodiversity is an emerging area of biology that is of growing importance in the public and political spheres. Understanding the diversity of living organisms, their origin and evolution and ensuring their conservation is not only of academic interest but is also crucial to ensuring the sustainable development of our society and a sound management of land and the environment.

With this Master's degree, the aim is to acquire advanced, specialized and multidisciplinary training, aimed at understanding the current state of research in the field of terrestrial biodiversity.

A specific objective of this master's degree is job placement in public administrations or in the environmental consulting companies that work for them. At the same time, it contemplates an itinerary to train future researchers.

The degradation of the environment due to anthropogenic action is reaching levels that already allow the media to speak openly of environmental alarm. Pollutants emitted into the environment, greenhouse gas emissions, the indiscriminate consumption of non-renewable energy, etc., are reaching such levels that the scientific community points out that it could be irreversible. At the same time, society's sensitivity to environmental issues continues to grow.

The master's degree in Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Global Change Ecology and Biodiversity Management is part of the GLOBE project. Led by the Universidad Rey Juan  Carlos (Spain) and as participants in the organisation and development are the University of Bangor (UK), the University of Lisbon (Portugal) and the Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala (Mexico), as well as various collaborating institutions from various sectors  (consultancies, NGOs, foundations, etc.).

The proposal of the Master in Techniques for Characterization and Conservation of Biological Diversity has as its fundamental objective to provide the necessary tools and techniques for the development of research and professional activities in the field of Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation.
