8 Language MA Degree Programs in Hungary

The goal of the degree program in MA in English Studies is to train experts in the field of English Studies who have sound theoretical, methodological and practical knowledge of the English language and can apply such knowledge in practice. They have thorough knowledge and understanding of the literature, culture and the social and political systems of English-speaking countries, including Great Britain, Ireland and Canada, the major trends and research fields of modern theoretical and applied linguistics and their results that mainly apply to the English language.

The master’s program in German language, literature and culture at the KRE imparts specialist knowledge in the areas of German literature, language and culture. Philologists who have excellent knowledge of German and who can master the professional challenges of the 21st century at a high intellectual level are trained here with continuously updated teaching focuses and methods. The language of the MA course is German throughout.

The objective of this two-year program (120 credits) is to train specialists in three areas: English Literature and Culture, English Applied Linguistics, Society and Culture of English-Speaking Countries.

English is the lingua franca, the most important language for communication in the globalised 21st century. It is a fact of life that everywhere experts are needed who not only speak English correctly, but who are also familiar with the societies and cultures of those countries where English is the first language.

Students with a BA in humanities or social sciences and C1-level English can apply to the two- or four-semester English and American Studies programme at the University of Pannonia. The programme provides in-depth training in language, literature (British, American, postcolonial), linguistics (theoretical, applied, computational), and the society and culture of English-speaking countries.

The Instructor of English as a Foreign Language programme is a two-semester, practice-focused postgraduate course that equips students to teach English to non-native speakers, preparing them for careers in schools, language institutes, and other international educational settings.

This full-time master’s degree program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and experience that will enable them to become fully-fledged professionals in the field of teaching of English as a foreign language. It includes three main components.

The M.A. program in English Studies at KJU aims to provide in-depth knowledge of multi-level global/European/national/local governance, transnational business, and civil language communication services, the design and management of language service programs, the organization and management of related research on language use, cultural and environmental contexts, and the development of quality and innovative service models.
