Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), also commonly known as the Aged Care Course or the Disability Course, is suitable for individuals who want to obtain the latest nationally recognised qualification for caregivers and support workers and develop their career in the Aged and Community care sector.

Bachelor of Science in Disability Studies when you pursue a minor in disability studies, you focus on disability as a social, cultural, and political phenomenon while exploring how it is defined and represented. The program balances theoretical exploration with practical application, helping you understand disability history, cultural representation, social justice and civil rights issues, policy concerns, and current ethical debates.

Program in Special Needs Training: Intellectual Disability. Students are free to choose among certain alternative courses, often depending on their choice of specialisation. Students are free to choose any course offered at Karlstad University or at other universities. Courses listed are examples of recommended or frequently chosen courses for a specific Program.

Workers have a range of factual, technical, and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
